Red Bird, Red Bird Fly Away!!!

Five to Six mornings ago, I kept hearing a noise outside my window. There is a tree branch there and on two mornings, I actually went to the window, tried to see the branch that was obviously scraping against my window. But both times I checked, there was no branch..but the noise only happened a few times so no big deal, right??
Well, in the last 4 days, I found out that it is a bird landing on the branch...so is the weight of the bird making the branch scrape my window? still couldn't find no place where it was touching, but I vowed to myself I would cut the branch...just in case I was missing it...The noise got worse and more frequent...to the point that it woke me up on Saturday morning, and on Sunday Morning, woke me up at 6:40am!!! I was irate!!!!! So I stood and watched...a red bird was sitting on a branch and all of a sudden would fly into the window....SMACK!!! The kids tell me that it is also doing it in the living room and foyer window...they call it the retarded red bird...we even explored the possibility that it could be blind..I mean, what bird would intentionally fly into something...don't they have a radar against such things...well, maybe it couldn't see it...??? I am confused, but I do know one thing..I have to stop the bird, cause I have to work graveyard for 4 days this week and I will need to be sleeping...So this morning, I send Tom on a mission...go kill the bird...now I know, I know, I am not a person who is intentionally trying to kill animals or birds, but this bird needs to be put out of its misery..I mean, something is definitely wrong with it, right??? I hear a gun shot and later he says he wasn't shooting "at it" (yeah, whatever...isn't that what all men say when they miss....)LOL
I even get on the web, look up the bird...he is red all over...has an orange bill and a black mask....yeah it is a Northern Cardinal...doesn't say nothing about them being mentally challenged, though...Tom laughs at me for looking it up on the web...
I go to church, ask a bird lover, also ask a vet student...no one knows anything...

So, tonight after church, I go to my parents house and mention it to them...they tell me that it is a superstition that someone is going to die in that house...okay, so that is freaky!!!!! Who is gonna die??? Me, Tom, Lukas or Morgan....???He then tells a story about my neighbor who's grandmother passed away in the last couple of years and there was a red bird that pecked on their window...Well, naturally, Morgan freaked out when I got her in bed and started bawling, swearing that it is Tom that is gonna die on his flight to Wisconsin on the 10th...(another story) but anyway, I calm her down and look on the web...All I can find is that there is no superstition....

I Do find out that a red bird is very territorial. Your typical Red birds that you see are male...(the female has more brown in her feathers...)So this is definitely a male and I find out that alot of people have them pecking on their windows...they see their reflection, think it is another bird, and is trying to fight it...makes total sense...so it said to tape a white paper to the window, so it can't see it's reflection and that would be all it would take...so that is done...let's see if it works!!!!

Where, oh Where...

has my summer gone....I can't believe it is already the end of June...Morgan and Lukas and I have stayed very busy this summer!!! They just got back from a week at camp, and of course Morgan spent a week of recuperating from her tonsils being out and I have worked at least 36 hours every week since school has been out!!!! Wait, stop...I love the summer... I don't want it to go by so fast!!!!!!!!VBS is coming up next week, so that will end up the month and it will only be about 30 some days till school starts back!!!!!! UGH!

Mother's Day...

I took Mom out to Cheddars for Mother's Day. It was definitely an experience, which is what I wanted it to be. I want them to experience "things of the world" that they wouldn't usually choose themselves to do. Now, don't get me wrong, Mom and Dad are all up for new experiences and are great to try new things. Their priorities are just different...I guess that is the best way to put it...They would never go to Kingsport and just choose to eat at Cheddars...that is just not their type of restaurant...they would more than likely choose Ryans or Golden Corral...So, that is why I took them here...somewhere they would never go on thier own. They totally enjoyed it! It was fun, too... Morgan got a kick out of it, just being with them and seeing how they "order" differently than she is used to...a couple of times she cast me a sideways glance and I had to make her stop!!! LOL So, here is a picture of me and Mom on Mother's Day.

Lukas Quote...

Last night, I told Lukas to catch the bus and he quickly replies....I don't have a mitt...wouldn't I need a baseball mitt to catch the bus?
He is sooo quick on the draw it is not even funny!!! Of course his teacher this year commented time and time again about his sense of humor and how he just cracked her up!!! And he constantly comes out with things that will have you in stitches...Another one I can remember...at Morgan's award ceremony, they gave an 8th grader an award for having perfect attendance all three years at that school, then they gave another 8th grader an award for having perfect attendance for 5 years...Lukas leaned over and said..."that child failed two years!" I horse laughed!!!!!! He was embarrassed because that was how he seen it...too cute

Last week!!!!

This is the last week of school and I can't wait till tomorrow, cuzI will get to sleep late!!!!!!
FYI, I am gonna be working at the nursing home this summer...only about 30 hours a week....yahoo!!!!! I just can't believe that summer is actually cut down to two months these days...I mean, when I was in school, we got three months...then two and 1/2...now, just two months!!!!! I hate that for my kids. By the time we get camp and VBS out of the way, and then our vacation, that only leaves 5 weeks till school starts!!!!! ARG!!! I don't like that!!!!!
Morgan's teacher sent home a workbook from Social Studies and asked that the students complete it the last two weeks of summer...Morgan asked what if they didn't? And the teacher siad they would be behind in 7th grade! I was so mad!! NO, absolutely NOT!!! The school system is not going to take up part of her summer also with work!!!!!!! So what if she is behind! I mean, she is a straight A student!!!!! Who cares!!!!??????
I did get to attend both Morgan and Lukas' end of year programs and will post some pictures later...

2nd Grade Field Trip...

I went on a field trip with the second grade last week, cause my little diabetic girl has to have someone with her all the time...we went to the Doak Museum. We ended up having a great time...First, they did marble painting...cool technique! In this the two pictures below, they threw out 100 marbles between the fence line and she let them go marble hunting...Of course, you can see that some of the boys got kinda rowdy trying to get the most marbles!


By the way, I am posting these pictures, cause no child's face is visible to identify, so therefore, it isn't against any rules, right??!
Okay, they also got to make marbles out of clay...well, this little guy decides to scuplture his own "thing" while the instructor was talking...we were cracking up, the parents and teachers, cause, bless his heart, he had no idea!!! Really, he had no idea! It was funny!

Hair...

Well, I got this funky new hairstyle...well, maybe I should say color...Morgan calls me Tiger...says I have stripes like one! I am now getting used to it, I have had it for about 2 weeks and believe me, the first couple of times I looked in the mirror, I took a double take!!! Red and Blond streaks..along with my brown But, you know me...crazy!!!! I also got some wispy's cut...bangs in the front...I have tried to go without them for several years and I just can't do it no more!!!! I am not meant to show my forehead!!!! I like it so much better! makes my face look less chunky!
so anyway, here is some pictures, which don't do justice to the red!

Church Steeple

My Pet Peeve!!! A Sorry ER Doctor

I am gonna gripe here...cause I know enough about the subject to be able to do it!!!!
Tom's leg looks awful and will leave a huge scar! Why? Because an ER Dr. is not concerned about what something looks like, just that they get you in and out. The funny part is, they weren't busy...too many people were sitting around...I did drop some hints...but it didn't help. As he went to sew Tom up, I dropped a few hints saying, "now I've seen good sutures and I've seen bad...so do a good job..." Well, when he pulled out a huge suture needle, I knew we were in trouble...First of all, he didn't do any tissue release. He should have went up under the edges of the cut and released the tissue so that when he went to pull the edges together, there wouldn't be so much pressure against it...It wasn't cleaned like it should have been... He put about 9 sutures in Tom's leg, and truly, it should have had about 20-30. He said he wanted it to drain...well, I have seen nasty, nasty cuts that were sown right and they looked almost perfect when sown together...no need for drainage cause they were cleaned good...A previous Dr. that I worked for did an awesome job at suturing and no one else that I have seen has done such a good job...so that is why I am so picky...and I hate sloppy work....

A funny Nursing home story...

I am just amazed sometimes at the sense of humor some of the residents have and this lady in particular should have been a comedian. She is always coming up with the funniest comments and sayings and she is confused, but not confused enough that she can't crack comments...so anyway, she came rolling in her wheelchair up to the desk and said, "I just want to tell you that my hind end is hurting so bad...it feels like I am sitting on my brains..." Then she proceeds to look over the side of her wheelchair and says " I surely undoubtedly am not sitting upside down!!!" By this time, I am laughing very hard!!! and then she continues..."If this is what it feels like to go to an a** kicking, I don't want to go!"
Oh, well, guess you had to be there...

Pressure, pressure...

LOL!!! I am being pressured to post!!! Gosh, this is too hard...LOL
Will tell you what went on this weekend...We had Old Fashioned Day at church so someone had the bright idea to have a little fun and this couple got a spot on the table...

Tom update...

Tom went back to work today, he was quiet a bit of pain on Sunday and Monday...They say the third day is the worst, so I hope he does okay today.... But anyway, it is swelling some and pulling the sutures tight...it is also got some redness around it...so I am concerned about infection...But, overall, he is doing better...Thank Goodness...I told him I was gonna put him in the nursing home if he didn't straighten up!!!!! LOL

Tennesse Chain Saw Massacre..well, not really...

I worked graveyard on Friday night at the nursing home. I had just gotten up about 3:30 pm on Satuday and was coming out of the bathroom, when Lukas came hollering..."Mom, come NOW, Daddy cut himself with a chain saw." So I ran outside, Tom is on the ground holding pressure on his leg...right above the knee. I can't really see how bad it is, cause of blue jeans...I yell for the kids to start getting me scissors, to cut jeans off, water and wet cloth, to clean it to see what is going on, pain medicine for him to go ahead and get it in his system... The scissors were so dull, I could harldly cut the jeans, they brought me a cloth with some water in a pickle jar (HOW was I supposed to get the cloth in that little bitty hole??) and of course when I got it cleaned off, he needed to go to the ER. So, I brushed my teeth while finding shoes, I didn't even comb my hair...but, hey, it was an emergency, right??? Luckily, Teresa was at the ER working, she was the nursign supervisor at the office job I had about 2 years ago. It always makes you feel more comfortable to see someone you know and have them taking care of ya!
The PA asked the kids to step out...they wanted to stay and watch...so I asked and he said ok...as long as they didn't mind being grossed out...I warned the Morgan and Lukas that if they felt any bit sick or woozy, to let me know...I also told them if I said sit down, for them to sit down right in the floor...I was gonna make sure I didn't see any white lips, pale faces, etc. They both did fine...Lukas went out one time looking for a water fountain, but I didn't think it was because of sickness or anything...well, when the PA got everything sewed up and Lukas put his head on my chest on the verge of tears..."Mommy, I feel like I am gonna puke" OKAY, LETS GET Out of here!!!!! Out of the room we went, and in the middle of the hallway, he started gagging....LUKAS, don't you puke in this floor, THE Bathroom is Right HERE!!!!! I put my hand under his mouth, like I could hold it all in there...
He did make it to the bathroom, and after washing his face with cold water, he got some color back...and we took him outside to get some air... he was okay..but he says he DON"T want to be a Dr. Morgan, on the other hand, is all ready to become a surgeon...she loved it!

Just Bloggin...

Oh, what a lovely day!!! This beautiful spring day just makes me want to get outside and enjoy God's creation...so what is goin on in my life right now...let's see...Tom and I watched the movie, Mr. Brooks, and even though Kevin Costner is one of my favorite actors, he was the bad guy in that movie...It was really good with ALOT of twists and turns, but it was too scary for me...made me think that I was sharing too much on here and that someone could stalk me and kill me...LOL
I know, I know, I am crazy like that!
Let's see, what else...Oh, I have started reading a Nicholas Sparks book, The Choice, this is the first Sparks book I have read, although his two movies are absolutely awesome! The Notebook and A Walk to Remember...Morgan got into them and has almost read everyone of his books...how cool that she is "into" an author...
Tom bought me an Ipod Shuffle, since the price has went down on them...I LOVE IT!!!! Well, here's why...because I can listen to Podcasts all the time! Mostly what I am listening to is Focus on the Family, Insight for Living and I am gonna get into Shawn Hannity... I love talk radio, so this way, I can choose what and when I listen! It is sooo cool! I love technology!!!!

A New ME...

Okay, so I have to admit it...I am crazy...well, this goes deeper than what you know...I Do have to take Effexor, which is an antidepressant...I don't mind the fact that I need it...I take it and don't deny that if I didn't take it, I would KILL people...no, really, with hatchets...I can't name names on here, because it would be premeditated when I decide to stop my medication...LOL
So, anyway, I got this job at the school, (which I love) back in August...I decided that I didn't need to take as high a dose as I am taking...I mean, no stress, you know...so I dropped back to a lower milligram...I am sailing right along...thru winter, proud that I have made it and actually think I don't need the higher dose...or should I say right here-- highest dose...but then after about January, I start using make up less and less...I realize by the end of Feb. that I haven't bothered to "shape" my fingernails in months...they look awful...can't tell you the last time I painted them. Nothing interests me, so yes, I find that I am downright depressed. I fight it for several weeks, not mentioning it to anyone, but knowing that deep down, I am gonna have to go back on the higher dosage...I want to sleep alot, don't mind if I do stay in bed, you know, those kind of things...oh, I still went to work, to church, etc. because I knew those were places that I had to go...I know, you would think a nurse would have more sense...well, I don't like to take medication just like the next person! and this is ME we are talking about...I mean, aren't mothers supposed to be perfect...handle everything...be cool in hot situations...no stress...Well, for whatever reason, this is not me and it usually takes me some getting used to the facts about my craziness...
So, I increased my medication and now I feel so much better...yeah, laugh and say, "I told you so"...that's okay... I am just so stubborn, that I have to learn things for myself...I can't take others words for it...I have to have "Proof" that I can't decrease my dosage...and needless to say, I got it...My Doc friend said, "Why you do such things I will never know!!" Well, that is why! I must try all other methods or interventions...I mean, I feel like no one knows me better than myself...right? So, how would anyone else know what dosage I need, except me...

I used a gift certificate from Christmas that I hadn't used to get my nails done, I have re-joined the gym, I am wearing make up again everyday and actually feel good about myself...Tom is even happier...:) Isn't it amazing what a little pill will do for ya!!!! So, I'm better for the time being... and just for keeping record...here are pictures of my nails...I love them...think I will keep them done all the time...



Crafty Gals!!!


It has become a tradition that Me and Lacey do unique things with the eggs at Easter...you know, a kinda crafty thing...this year, we used masking tape and acrylic paint...here is a speckled egg that Lacey made that was very pretty.

The Dog...

Yes, the dog has gotten bigger...WAY BIGGER... I have been promising to post pictures of her for a long time...I did finally talk Tom into putting her outside...she is just too big to be in the house..I mean, last night, Tom was over at the stove and Sheba just politely put her paws up on the stove and stood up!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I bought had heart failure!!!! So, anyway, here she is...

Easter 08

I guess it is time for an update, right?? Easter has come and gone and Morgan had a hard day. I think she wanted the hunt to be as exciting as it always was, and it wasn't...cause she is growing up...okay, so she had a fun time coloring eggs, was in a good mood...Tim, Helen and Anthony went to hide Eggs, she was excited...she goes out to hunt...here she is hunting...



Then, I went to take more pictures of her, after taking some pictures of Jaida and Lukas...and here is what I find...


She is lying on the porch swing...mad...at what? Who knows? I really don't think she knows.
I kept asking her and so did everyone else...but all we got was "I'm TIRED!!!" or "I'm MAD!"
She didn't know I took the pictures...so one day, when she gets about 34 with a daughter that acts just like me and her, I will have to show her!!! LOL Mamaw Chris asked her why she poured out her basket and she replied...."cause I like busting them like this!" and proceeded to bust an egg in her fist. Bless its heart, she is going thru puberty and doesn't feel she has a place in this world right now...NO, BLESS my HEart!!!! I am the one who is gonna be crazy by the time she is grown! I can't help but laugh sometimes, cause it is all so dramatic...of course, Mom keeps telling me it is all coming home to me...!!! ARG!

READ VIOLATED FIRST!!!!

Okay, so I wake up on Saturday morning to Tom talking on the phone to my brother...and Tim says "I did it..." Yeah, right, I thought, I mean, he is always kidding...But then he is giving the details...I am FURIOUS!!!! but relieved at the same time! How dare he!!!

So then I get the story...He and Helen were driving home from Kpt and decided to do something to my car, not realizing I wasn't in the Honda...they actually used Helen's key to unlock it, and then since it was straight shift, was able to move it..He said he actually got the car halfway moved and a car pulled into the parking lot and he had to actually turn on the headlights, put his hand up on the steering wheel, like he was pulling out...

so that's the story...Oh, and Tim came up to the house later and said..."now, don't tell anyone, cause that would be filing a false police report..."...WELL< Let me tell you something HONEY, I DIDN"T file a false POLICE report!!!!!!!!! I was FREAKED!!! not to mention felt so nasty and violated thinking someone had been touching my stuff!!!!!!

Violated!!!

I got robbed!!!!!!! My car was broken into!!!!Okay, so I went out of work at Nursing home at about 10:00pm to get in my car...Tom was coming out of front entrance, I was coming out of the side entrance...I noted my car wasn't where I put it...now, even though I thought I had the only set of keys, I hollered at him and ask him if he had been in my car...no...I then noted my billfold and change purse lying on the dash of the car...What??? Then when I looked in the window....My purse was poured out in the driver seat!!!!!!!!!!!!! So...my car was moved from one parking place, directly across the lane to another parking space...my car IS locked...but someone has been in it!!!! I am freaked out!!! Tom has then made his way to me..."I did not park here!!!!! My car has been moved....Someone's been in my car!!!" I felt like Baby Bear after Goldilocks had been in thier house...Tom immediately goes to tell the boss we have been broken in to... After talking to more employees, I realize that this has happened several times here and I need to call the law...I DO check my stuff...my bank card is there...my checkbook is there...my 'crazy medication" is there... so from what I can tell, nothing is missing....but I still decide to call...I mean, the floor board is wet from where they had gotten IN MY CAR!!!!!! I felt so violated!!!! I had heard people use this term and never knew how they felt!!! I felt like my own stuff was Nasty!!!! Who had been touching it?? Who had sit in my seat?? I even picked up my billfold and smelled of it...

A laundry employee comes out and says she just came to work about 30 minutes ago and she saw a little silver Toyota parked beside it... so we figured that was our culprit..they saw her pull up, they got "spooked" and left everything. The cop was truly puzzled as to why someone would want to move the car??? How did they do it??? Why??? The opposite parking place was still dry where my car had sit!!! My clutch was still wet....

So a police report was filed... I wouldn't drive it home though....I didn't want to touch nothing in there...I got home before Tom...I was hesitant about going in the house...They knew where I lived!!!! I mean, my drivers license has my address, so does my checks!!! Should I go on in...It was dark on the steps...But I did and of course, everything was fine!!! Tom came in later and brought my purse and bag in...I didn't want to to even touch it!!!!!!

Proof of my craziness!!!!

Okay, before you laugh, let me tell you just like my banner says, sometimes, there are crazy stuff that goes on in my head...no one else probably can't understand it...sometimes, even I don't!!! LOL!
So, the other morning, I was drying my hair, kinda leaning over in the bathroom, and for some reason I glanced at the commode, the plunger had fell over so I saw it too..then I got this HILARIOUS cartoon in my mind and started cracking up! so here goes...

The cartoon has three frames...in the first one, you see a person at the store buying the "new ultra super" toilet plunger..."greater suction power than any plunger ever..."

The next frame shows the person at home using it... the last frame will show the septic tank busting up thru the floor...yeah, one powerful plunger....ROFLOL!!!!!!!!!

Another Layout I done..this is the new size that I LOVE!!! 6x12! Cool...This is actually a challenge that I put to myself, because I just picked up these two pictures, and used old stuff I had had forever in my big stash of scrapping stuff...so just a quickie layout to get these pictures scrapped...you scrappers will know exactly what I mean, right!!!!!!
I couldn't help but notice how young Tom looks here...hee hee...he is about 21 here...

Psalms 23 is gradually becoming my favorite verse in the Bible after I heard Phil Kidd preach and a lady in NC at Sally's church speak on it...

The first verse: The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. That is being content with being a Christian, content with what you are. Not wanting anything else in the world or from another "bad shepherd" We shouldn't lust after Satan's playthings. but be satisfied and happy with who we are.

2nd Verse: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures... Jesus gives us food so that we CAN "lie down in peace. Sheep must be 1) not afraid of anything before they can lie down. 2) they must be content 3) they must trust thier Master. We must trust Jesus that he will take care of us when trouble comes.

...He leadeth me beside the still waters. Sheep are very timid creatures. They must have still waters to drink from though it must not be stale. We must be able to trust that our Shepherd will guide us where we belong.

The lady said it was a book written by a sheperd. I'm gonna try to find that book...
{I did find the book and it became one of my favorite...It is entitled "A Shepherd's Look at Psalms 23" It is pretty old...I think the Author is Phillip Kelley...very good book!}

Our church had the yearly Valentine Banquet this past Saturday...they always play the newly wed game and since everyone wants to know everything about the Pastor and his wife's relationship :) we had to play...and we won, believe it or not!!!! I don't think we have ever won, even though we have been playing for 6 years!!!! LOL
Some of the questions Tom was asked were...What does your wife do after a stressfull situation... 1. get mad 2. get depressed 3. blame someone else and I don't remember the 4th one...well of course Tom picked get depressed....I knew that is what he would pick, so I picked it to win..I think that I get mad, THEN get depressed...I usually get so furious at situations that are beyond my control, but I want to change them, then I get so down, cause I feel so helpless... yeah, whatever....
If your wife could do one of the following things for $10,000, what would she do??/ 1. Go streaking thru the neighborhood 2. shave her head for a year 3. give up TV for a month 4. tell husband he was right for one whole month. Well, I picked give up TV for a month..I hardly watch any TV anyway...No, I don't want to shave my head, cause my pride would get me...not even for $10,000!!! Heck, my hair is the only thing that looks half decent, well, if you don't count my chest as an assent...LOL No, I would not spend a month telling Tom he was right!!! He would get the $10,000 AND the satisfaction of being right...nope, can't do it...do you know that I was wrong...TOM PICKED GO STREAKING THRU THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!! WHAT!!!! I mean, come on!!! How many fat women would just run thru the neighborhood naked??? And you know what his excuse was? That was the quickest way to get the money!!! MEN!!!!!

The View...

Right now, what do I see?? I am at school, sitting at my desk...I share the office with the technology Teacher at school...we have a rectangle shaped office. It has counter tops all around the edge...she is on one side and I am on the other. It also has cabinets above the counter space on two walls...then there are the windows...Big huge 5 or 6 foot windows...where I can see outside...They stretch about 8 foot long across one of the sides of the rectangle...granted, the view is not that pretty, since I am on the upper level of the school, and all I can see is the roof of the building below me and also some heating units on the roof...But I can see the sky...right now, it is gray and kinda "plumpy" (I know, that is not a word) but it has been raining and there are water droplets on the window... but my eyes always go back to the sky...I am facing north, so I can't usually see the sun, only the shine from it. Oh, and then there is the mountain range...in the far off background there is a mountain range that stretches from one window to the next...So this brings me peace, cause it is always there...stable, no change... Gosh, I am too funny...analyzing what my view is...

Happy February!!!

I am sorry, I have not been in the mood to blog..and been too busy!!! I am actually helping to work on the yearbook here at school and that is taking quite a bit of my "blogging" time...LOL...I also designed the web page for the Greene Co. School System and as soon as it is posted, I will post a link here....my first web page ever..LOL
AND, all the links work...hee hee...(PET PEEVE: a link that doesn't work!!!)
Been a busy day at school...several kids have the pink eye, one kid has something irritating his eye and I had to take his contact out, cause he couldn't' get it...yeah, imagine that with my long fingernails! One kid had a nose bleed all over his clothes...one kid can't find her glucometer to check her sugar..I am trying to teach the 4th graders about the 5 food groups, a teacher is calling to come to her class to check two kids who she thinks might have fever...the nose bleed child comes back with more blood, but fingerprints...he obviously has been picking his nose and wiping the blood on his shirt!!! ARG!!!! Stop TOUCHING YOUR NOSE!!!!!! LOL Oh, and the hypochondriac teacher just called again and wants me to come to her classroom again!!!! 3rd time today!!! Called a mother about a child using her Albuterol inhaler about 9 times today...as if she needs to be anymore hyper!!!!So, that is my day in a nutshell!!! But usually I don't do much of nothing...must be a full moon. LOL

It is Well...

This is my favorite story behind a hymn...This became one of my favorite songs after hearing the story...


The song had its beginnings in Chicago. Horatio G. Spafford was a successful attorney making his way in the rough-and-tumble world of a growing Chicago economy. He was a Christian who had no idea how soon his faith would be tested. In the late 1860's, tragedy struck Mr. Spafford with the death of his son. Then he was devastated by the great Chicago fire of 1871. He had invested heavily in real estate along the shores of Lake Michigan, and his holdings were wiped out by this disaster.

In 1873 Spafford was advised by doctors that his wife needed a change of location due to health problems. At the same time, he had become involved with the evangelistic work of Dwight L. Moody and his partner Ira Sankey. Moody was preaching in England, and Spafford decided to sail over the Atlantic with his family to be of assistance.

A last-minute business emergency arose, and Spafford was forced to send his wife and daughters ahead on schedule. His plan was to join them on another ocean crossing later. But on the fateful day of November 22nd, 1873, the ship his family had boarded was struck by an English ship and sank in 12 minutes. Mrs. Spafford survived, but all four daughters -- Tanetta, Maggie, Annie, and Bessie -- were among the 226 who drowned in the icy waters of the Atlantic. From Cardiff, Wales, his wife Anna sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.”

Who among us can imagine the grief that filled Horatio Spafford's soul when word of the disaster reached him? Perhaps even fewer of us can imagine what it was like for Spafford to board another ship to cross the swirling waters alone, knowing that he would pass right over the watery graves of his four daughters on the way to meet his grieving wife.

But on that ship, the light of faith illuminated the darkness of Spafford's life. Out of the depths of his despair arose the certainty that God was in control, and that he would see his daughters again.

As Spafford's ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired him to write the words to this beautiful hymn. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief may befall them on earth.

Philip P. Bliss was so impressed with Spafford's text that he very shortly afterward wrote the music for it. The hymn tune is named Villa du Havre after the ship on which Spafford's children perished. Ironically, Bliss himself died in a tragic train wreck shortly after writing this music. He survived the initial impact, but died when he went back into the flames in an unsuccessful attempt to rescue his wife. So this beloved song, which has helped so many, was born in unspeakable pain and grief.

For everyone who has lost a loved one, especially a child, there is no song that has brought more hope than the one Spafford penned while looking out over that endless ocean: “It is Well With My Soul.”

It SNOWED!!!!

I love snow!!! I would love to have a blizzard!!! Because I like to sleigh ride...I like the serenity of going outside and hearing the quietness...seeing the purity of the snow...Heck, I even like snow cream...So, there's nothing much about snow that I don't like...

It snowed on Thursday...I slept late..but the kids went on outside and started playing. Thier Aunt Lacey saw them and came over and joined them...they sleigh rode for about 3-4 hours!!! Here is a few pictures when they were getting out of thier wet clothes.



Can you believe how red her feet are!!!! She has just taken off wet socks and was fixing to step into the house when I took this picture...

Touched/In Memory of H.H.

Ok, so I started a new nursing job...I still have my school job, cause I love it so much...but I started prn at the nursing home...on a 4 hour shift....7p-11p. Usually will be just 2 shifts a week.
I was afraid I was gonna loose my nursing skills and knowledge...I mean, if you don't use it, you loose it, right...and the extra money can't never hurt :D
So, I went to work the other night for the first time...since I had worked there before, I felt like I had been in a coma for awhile and had woke up...It was like everything was so familiar and that I was supposed to know it, but couldn't bring it to the front of my memory...wierd...but I had fun and loved it...
I went into the last room on my medicine round...There was this little debilitated man in the bed...unable to talk, or barely move. I immediately fell in love with him. I checked his chart later and found out he was just on comfort measures...soon to die...anytime...he wasn't even getting any medications...too close to death...
His eyes were open...I held his hand and talked softly to him. He knew I was there...
I frequently went into the room as his room was next door to the nursing station. I talked to him, fixed his cover, and noted how dry his tongue was,so I did mouth care...with lemon glycerin swabs...and cold water..he liked it...his mouth responded to it...Iheld his hand, rubbed his head...I was just touched by this gentleman. There were no family there...I later found out he didn't have any. No children, wife dead...so sad!
Upon reading the chart, I noted that he had had a terrible life...His father had beaten his mother and made him and his brother work in the fields by the time they were 5 years old. If they didn't work, he didn't feed them...He got in a fight with his dad for taking up for his mother when his dad was beating her in his teen years and he left home...he went to Japan in the war...and stated how he had to do some really terrible things there that he could not forget....he described himself as a bitter, angry man. That was not the man I saw lying in the bed. The skinny debilitated frame had a gentle face. I would like to know what kind of relationship he and his wife had had. Why did they not have children? Was he afraid of how he would treat them? How did he treat his wife...was he a great loving husband because of the way he had seen his father treat his mother? His wife died in the 80's and he had no one to take care of him since then. He obviously was still in good health at that time, because the record stated he had taken care of her when she had cancer. Was it after she died that he became a bitter angry man?? Tom said I would have really liked him, cause he had been at the nursing home for a couple of years. He had to come there because he had no one to take care of him.
Okay, so to get along with my story...as I was sitting on the couch with Tom the next afternoon,I mentioned him to Tom and how I was concerned about his care...Tom reponded with:
It doesn't matter now...
What do you mean?
He's dead...
Well, I know he is going to die anytime...but...
No, I mean..he died last night...
WHAT!!!!!!!!??????????
This totally floored me...I was looking forward to going back in there and babying him some...something he probably hadn't ever had...you know...
I dreamed about him last night...that I was feeding him corn flakes with big red stawberries in it...and you know what else...who even cares that he died...
so I guess by blogging here...he will never be forgotten...remebered by me...

Another Funny...

I remember going to a Kindergarten class to teach about germs, safety, etc. One little boy raised his hand and said..." When you die, yor brains fall out" !
It was just too cute not to share...whatever gave the child this idea...?

I know I need to post more layouts...I don't have a scanner that is easily accessible to me, so therefore, I don't take the time to actually take a picture of them...maybe I will start...anyway, here is two layouts I done at least a year ago....



This is Lukas one day that Tom and I took him and Morgan to the park to play. This is one of my favorite pictures...

Salvation...

I went to my prayer group the other night and coming to know God was mentioned...I realized that I didn't have my experience written down anywhere for anyone to read...not that it matters...just that when God does something for me, I like to tell it...and this was MaJOR!!! He saved me! With the evil person that I am, I couldn't even imagine what kind of person I would have been...if it had not happened at such an early age.
Ok, so I was 4 and a half years old... I don't remember the prayer I prayed, or even who preached that night at church...what I do remember is being very scared...
I can remember sitting on the front bench at church...beside a young lady. It was time for fellowship handshake...so since my feet didn't touch the floor, I was gonna have to "hop" down off the bench. I remember looking at the floor...and seeing fire...not really fire, but feeling like it was Hell I was jumping off into...I wouldn't get down. No one was paying attention to me. I was scared...I could not bring myself to jump down..cause I might go to hell...
So, I got the attention of a friend who was probably about 6 years old...told her to go get the pastor's wife...So when she did, I told her I felt like I was gonna go to hell...I don't think I told her about the fire...So, of course, with her there with me, I jumped down and went to the alter. I remember the people of the church gathering around me to pray. I could hear a man named Kenny telling me to get up, that I just had to get up and God would save me...I remember thinking while I was there that I wish he would just go away. Leave me alone to pray. I could hear Mom talking to me, but I don't remember what...I just knew she was behind me knelt down on my left side...Daddy was on my right side beside Mom...I think he was actually standing. Like I said, I don't remember what I prayed exactly, but I know I did...I also remember picturing the cross scene in my mind at the prompting of someone...Then, it was like there was no conscious decision to get up, I just got up...Just got right up...seemed like I had no reason to stay down. I knew God had saved me. I was crying and turned around to Mom...she was laughing...Now I know it was a happy laugh with some tears mixed in...but a 4 year olds mind can't hardly comprehend this...I thought she was laughing and making fun of me. I remember feeling mad at her. I just couldn't imagine why she would be laughing...but I let it pass...I was wanting to hug everyone else. I remember being happy all the way home, and even that night when I got home, I remember still being so happy on the inside.
I later learned that Mom had recorded the day that I got saved was May 25, 1978.
Well, this has been a good experience to sit and think about the details...Maybe you could share...

Funny stuff...

I was laughing at something I read online and wanted to start sharing the incidents that are quite humorous in my life...so here goes funny story number 1.

As you know, I worked in a nursing home and God love thier hearts, when they are crazy, they are soo funny! You just can't be hateful and work there, cause some Alzheimer's patient will totally crack you up...Well, I want to introduce to you a Sunday School teacher...a lady who was very respected in the community...when she got old, she started cussing better than any sailor...using God D__ and Hell and SH-- and A-S...well, needless to say, this embarrassed her husband to death. She would even get violent sometimes, just cussing you up one side and down the other...now, mind you, her voice was very high pitched and keen... so you could hear her all over the wing. One day,she was cussing and mad and a male nurse, whom I won't mention the name of (T-m) hid behind her curtain...started calling her name in a deep voice...acting like God. She said "who is it..."
"this is God"
"Where are you?"
"Quit that cussing"
"What" as she shrinks down as if KNOWING she is doing "wrong" too funny...
The conversation continues till she gets mad and starts cussing God...so much for trying to teach her a lesson...
This same little lady walked out into the hallway with her hospital gown on backwards, naked underneath, and stops in the middle and looks down and says...god da__ my kidneys have hair on them"
I still laugh about that!!!!

Today..

I got to teach the 2nd Grade from a new program called Little D's Nutrition Expedition.
It was so fun...I got to read a story to them and they got to act it out...I will actually be teaching from this for the rest of the year. I am excited about it!
Tom is sick and hateful. :D He and I had the afternoon to ourselves as the children went with Andrea and Bobby. We ate at Outback and then went to the motel to rest. The revival broke and with him being sick, he needed the rest.
Then the kids were worn tee-totally out last night, so I put them straight to bed.
I often wonder what goes on in their minds...One night when I put Lukas to bed, he hugged me tight and said "Mom, don't ever die' I said, Honey, Mommy isn't going to die and if I do, God will help you thru it...
Several people commented on how pretty Morgan looked today at church. She is growing up so much...will post a recent picture of her soon. Oh my gosh, and she aCTS just like me!!!! She is a little flirt...not that I am or anything...she is outspoken...likes to pick on people...oh my gosh, she is so much like me...!!!!! I DO have problems!!!

This week and Vet Visit

WEll, so much for wanting to post every day...!!! LOL, I knew I wouldn't get to do it! But anyway, here I am on a Sat night, the kids have went to a friends house for the night, Tom is in the bed, I am sitting here by the fireplace with a good warm blanket on my legs and just being peaceful!! I love time alone!
Let's see...I did have a horrible migraine headache on Wed.and Thursday Tom is in revival and I didn't get to go on these two nights. I didn't work on Wednesday cause I couldn't lift my head off the pillow.
My thoughts for this week...1) Who am I gonna vote for in the upcoming election?? I have been trying to catch the news and talk radio on the nominees... 2) Who am I to judge other people...I can compare my spiritual life to others and get the idea that I am better than them...but then I compare myself to God and all I can say is "Woe is me"...that was actually a devotional from one day last week, that won't leave my mind...taken from Isaiah 6;5 3)The dog is growing...Thank God for that...Let me explain: Last week, we took her to the vet and the vet is very surprised at how little she was...something is definitely wrong, she says...Morgan immediately tears up... so it turns out, the dog weighs only 6 pounds. She is 3 months old and should weigh around 25-30 pounds. She does bring out her English Mastiff from the back room and he is 5 months and he comes above my knee...huge!!! Obviously she has a major heart murmur...the vet suggests we call the breeder and get her sent back. Well, I know that one thing my family can't bear is to loose two dogs in one month!!! Morgan is crying on me and fortunately, I didn't have Luke with me. We agree to go ahead and give her her immunizations, worm medications, etc...and we pray. Morgan and I just pray, right there in the vet's office. Cause we know God can handle the doggie's illness too...cause He said he would supply our wants...and he is The Comforter...When I do get to tell Luke, he crys also...but not much, cause we tell him we are going to pray. Tom agreed to prayer is the answer. Well, we took her home, gave her the medication and her diarrhea stopped and she started growing...within one week, she has gained at least 3 lbs...I promise to post a picture of her soon.

Happy Day...

Happy New Years Day! I have not made any new years resolutions...why? because I am weak. I can't keep them...so I am not going to make any so I don't have to break any...but who am I kidding, I have at least thought about what I would make IF I was making some...so here goes...just a few that I have thought about....

1. To blog more...why? just to satisfy my need for journaling...writing, I like...not that anyone would read it...but who cares..I like to think someone will laugh when they read it...or at least think about how weird I am...

2. To read my Bible more...Our "40" Bible study group has started a study called Experiencing God...so I am looking forward to that. I want to get to know God...to get closer to him, to actually feel him at all times...to study His Word. I am such a sorry Christian, though...

3. To Memorize KJV scriptures. My Sunday School class that I teach is having to memorize some scriptures for the youth conference in July...so I want to do it with them...I feel like if you memorize the scriptures, they are there in your mind when you need to refer to them...does that make sense?

4. To be a better Mom and Wife...I take pride in my children...they are wonderful, good kids...I'm not such a great wife. So, I need to get better...

5. To read some Classics...I just got finished reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen...I didn't read the classics when I was in school and since my office is in the library at school, I have access to these...so I want to read others...

6. To take more pictures...this is my passion...I need SOOO much more practice...

7. To exercise more...bike riding is something I really love...BUT, I hate cold weather...!LOL

That is all I have thought about...but not resolutions...LOL

I then took some photographs of Tom's nieces...Kandise, who is in college at Memphis, Sierra who is in 8th grade and Sadie who is a Junior at high school. I think they are beautiful.

Cold December night...Random thoughts

I hate the cold...but as long as I am safe in my house and warm, I can deal with it...
Not sure why that came out...anyway, the kids just came running in her yelling "she barked, she barked" Sheba had obviously barked and they got so excited that I am sure she thought she did something wrong. How cute...
Tom likes to play with her in our bed. Of course, you know I am totally disgusted by this and absolutely refuse to let her come on my side of the bed. But she does have my heart, at least a little.

I have been off from work for almost two weeks...flat broke and looking fw to going back to work. I was praying tonight and was thinking how that the Lord had provided for us while I was off work... I will miss this coming paycheck and I know the Lord will take care of it for us. I sometimes get too excited and think that we are not going to make it, but HE always comes thru.

I am gonna TRY to blog more this year...so far, I am doing pretty good...just hope you don't get bored hearing about my life...

DISGUSTING!!!!!!

Did I ever say how much I HATE animals in the house...??? I can't stand it, I like cleanliness!!!!
I told Morgan that I coudn't wait till she and Lukas got at least 5 years old, cause that way, I didn't have to diaper them, wipe thier butt, feed them, clean up after them...etc. I am such a horrible person, I know, but I just don't like things I have to clean up after.
Now, TOM, on the other hand, would live in pure dog poop, I think...so anyway, what got me so upset??? I had to come home today and the house had two piles of poop in it and it smelled bad!!! So that made me in a bad mood...yes, I know, the kids cleaned up after the dog, but still just the mess in my house...

Now, switching channels here...the puppy is so cute...I can't deny it. I just love it! Tom gave her a bath last night and she was mad at him and buried her head in the towel and wouldn't look at him...he went to her and lifted up her chin, but she just buried her head again! It was sooo cute... okay, so here is her picture...

New Member of our family...

Well, Tom can't go for many days without a dog...so we drove for two hours to get a dog...a Mastiff. A 10 week old puppy. It is so cute...or should I say "she". She has been given the name, Queen of Sheba. She is registered. She will grow to be huge. Which we all tend to like large dogs in our family. We have done alot of research on this type of dog and it is going to be a different experience. They are quiet and reserved by nature. And it is so funny, cause this puppy has been here two days and we have only heard her whine a few times. She is so content just to lay around and sleep or do nothing. She is so cuddly and likes to love. I will post a picture of her sometime tomorrow.
If you can remember the movie, Turner and Hooch, this is a type of Mastiff in this movie...
We had to take her to church with us this morning since we stay in JC all day. She was content to stay in the car in her cage during church. Of course we let her out after church. She is just such a good puppy and I can't get over that...after Esther and Mordecia as puppies...they were everywhere and into everything!!!!
Sheba is the runt of the litter and she is small compared to her brother, whom we also got to see; this makes her seem more spoiled!!!!!

In Memory...


I am heartbroken as I write this...Our family dog of 11 years has passed away.

Alot of you remember the 3 legged Rottwieler that we had. Her name was Esther.

It was very hard on us as a family, even though we knew her life expectancy was nearing an end and she had already outlived all of her siblings.

Last Saturday, we realized that we hadn't saw her in the past 10 or 12 hours. So we started making phone calls around to the neighbors and Dad stated that on Thursday, he had pulled her up out of the creek, thinking that she was stuck there. I doubted the stuck part, as she never had any problems getting anywhere with her 3 legs, but he did mention that she didn't get up and he just left her lying there. As Tom got home on that Saturday night, he went out in the rain and looked for her for about an hour. It was dark and he couldn't see that well...I called and called for her, the kids did the same. Several times, we broke down. Knowing that she woudl never run off, nor leave. The next day being Sunday, we were gone all day. We left food out, just in case she did make it to the porch. Sunday night, there was no sign on her and no one else in the neighborhood had saw her either. Monday we were sad; Morgan cried several times, but Lukas seemed to handle it well. On Wendnesday, Lukas and I went looking for her again during the day. Tom and I knew at this point that she was dead, we just had to find her body. I saw Tom's vehicle pull in the driveway that evening, but he never came in the house. I got a phonecall from him in the yard. It was Tom and he had found her. She had been lying in the creek, like she always did. She loved the creek and the water of any kind. I told Lukas we had found her and with tears flowing down my cheeks, I went outside to be with Tom. I knew this was gonna be hard for Tom, as his dog to him, is like a child. He just gets so attatched and Esther had definitely been his favorite dog, and one whom he had been with the longest. He met me and hugged me and we just stood quietly waiting on Luke. (Morgan was on a trip) In a second or two, he burst out of the house and with a wildly determined look, ran to the place where Tom had lain her. I think, by the look on his face, he thought she was still alive. He ran to her and stopped abruptly. Then immediatley turned and started bawling.

We stood silently crying as Tom finished digging her grave and I held him. He sobbed quietly the whole time.

For two days, he has done nothing but talk of her and complain of his stomach. I am sure it has upset him more deeply than we know.

Esther WAS the best dog I ever had!!!!

dissatisfied...

ARG! Tom had given me some money to go shopping...how depressing!!! I took 9 items of clothing into the dressing room...came out with 4 that I was actually gonna take home...and they didn't reach of the shelf and grab me....but since I needed some winter clothes, I got them anyway...I think I could shop for hours and still only find one or two items that I really liked...and the constraints of weight doesn't help any! I mean, if it were up to me, I would want to dress like a movie star all the time...is that flamboyant? yeah...that would probably be a good way to describe me...LOL
I need a haircut...i am tired of this stuff stringing in my face. I am tired of being at school trying to do something and my hair in my face. I need a new do...! any suggestions?
Gosh, am I hormonal or what!! nothing seems to satisfy me today. I am tired...want to take a nap... have a to-do list a mile long...want to take a nap...LOL
Tom called today to say he isn't feeling that great...ear hurting, throat hurting...I just need a nap...
Oh, and let me tell you what could be really dangerous right now...I have been getting on Ebay at school, just to pass some of my down time and I find myself bidding quite a bit! Oh, different things, books, scrap stuff, christmas presents...have actually won a few items...man, it is just to easy to pay online and it is over...just wait for the mail! So, i am trying not to get too addicted, cause that could cause some major financial difficulties!!! LOL
